Gears – Beneficial or hindrance

Gears are kind of a product which is using by almost all of us but some how we our self don’t notice that we are that much big user of gears.

Gears are of many types. Hence, used in many different product to make it fast and efficient. It not only gives you smoothness of work, it also reduces man effort in the mechanism.

We are using gears almost every day – examples – Car, bicycle, clock, hand pump, motor bike, lift, escalator, machines, wall fans, juicers, grinders, mixtures, some home tools etc

Does it not tell us that we use gears in our daily life.

Gears are beneficial because it ease our work which could take most of our time, if these gears would not be in place. It increases our efficiency and gives us result faster than what we think. Few examples -

Car – we reach other place in lesser time than walking.

Escalators – Moves us up and down ward quicker than our speed on ladders.

Juicer – It gives us fresh juice in minute’s time. However, if today we decide to take a juice of an apple it may take hour of ours.

Machine – Do our work more faster/efficient/and smooth.

Hence, I can say it is a beneficial product for us.

On the other side of the coin, I can see some drawbacks of the gears.

It stops us doing any work.

It reduces our time and effort and gradually we are becoming effortless.

Gears are doing work easier and we are doing some work which needs less amount of power.

We are somehow moving away from hand work.

Examples –

Car – we can reach to other place in minutes but if missed a walk

Escalator – we are on top floor but missed our legs exercise

I have shown/shared my thinking. Feel free to tell me what you think about it…

Basics of gears

At the time when we invented wheel, which was a very helpful product to help a person to transport thing from one place to another. After the success of invention of wheel, people invented one more thing called gears. Gears which is like a wheel with teethes at the edge which rotates with another gear having similar kind of teethes to reduce the force and increase the energy.
In other words, gears are rough wheels with cutting edges that transmit motion and energy when meshed with another gear or a compatible device. Positive transmission is transferred and accomplished whenever the teeth of the gear work in conjunction with another.
Gears started by someone in fourth century, but now been used by almost everyone.
In our life we all are using gears to reduce our effort and investment of time and increase the energy like - Car, clock, Juicer Mixer Grinder (JMG), generators, elevators, lifts, VCR, power meters, wrist watches etc

Energy+gears=electricity

As we all know gears play vital role in saving energy and making the work quick and smooth.
From gears we can not only run our automobiles, we can also run our industries. Not only that we can also give electricity to those industries through gears.
The wind turbine is made up of the anemometer (a clock that measure wind), blades, brake, controller, GEAR BOX, generator, low-speed shaft, high-speed shaft, yaw and wind vane. With the use of all these items, GEAR BOX and a right process, it is possible to generate electricity.
Here wind played a vital role. However, gear used the force of wind and transferred it to the generator and converted the force into electricity.

Every one knows that we are using electricity, but no one knows how exactly we are getting it.
In 1752 Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity with his kite-flying experiment.
In starting of 18th century Alessandro Volta discovered the first electric cell in the world.
Micheal Faraday was the person who took electricity current from cooper wire surrounded by rotating magnets.
Every honorable people discovered above facts. But gear box made that electricity available in mass quantity and for every one for me and for you.

So gear always make the work faster and smoother.

Gears - A force buster

Gears are the force buster.
There was a time when our grand-grand parents/relatives were using their own force to move stone or any thing from one place to another, post that they invented a mechanism due to which they can push the things by much easier way after that they improved that gadget and invented an important source of transfer called wheel and were able to transport things from one place to another easily/quickly/effortlessly.
After fourth century BC, people invented gears made up of wood with pointed pins. Then smart Greek people came in the picture and they upgraded that wooden gears into metal but that too was not sufficient for the world and In eighteenth century, Romans developed it more and used it in their mills to make their work easier like flour mill, steel mill etc.
Then use of motors and engines pushed the gear to the next level and made them use in almost every thing like automobiles, machines, mills, factories, home appliances - fan, clock, juicer, mixture, grinder, gardening machine, in other words we can say now we are almost surrounded by gears.
If it would have beeen the ame as fourth century, then we would have no transport facility, no industry, no development....
So, i feel gears play an important role in this world and not only makes our work easierm it makes our work force less. Hence, it is a force buster.
